CLINICAL SUPERVISION & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

FOR SOCIAL WORKERS IN CLINICAL OR THERAPEUTIC PRACTICE

Whether you're already doing this work or working towards it, you've probably felt the gap between the books and reality. It's a visceral experience that can get pretty uncomfortable at times.

I would love to see more social workers experiencing job satisfaction and professional longevity, despite the chaotic, unfair, and imperfect systems we often work within. With well matched support and professional development, we can go deep, get real, tolerate and navigate uncertainty, and expand the edges of our practice in a safe and ethical way.

HOW I CAN HELP

As an AMHSW experienced in providing supervision, mentoring, and trained in the AASW's Advanced Supervision Program, here are some of the ways I can support you.

CLINICAL SUPERVISION

I offer individual clinical supervision to social workers and other helping professionals who work in clinical or therapeutic roles. This extends to those who are working towards these roles, as well as social workers seeking mental health accreditation.

Good-quality supervision is a personal and professional need and responsibility. It's hands-down one of the most meaningful and valuable ways to:

  • Develop and refine your professional identity and practice framework

  • Synthesise your skills, knowledge, and practice wisdom

  • Manage clinical and personal safety: for yourself, clients, and colleagues

  • Explore and move through stuckness and overwhelm

  • Prevent burnout and increase job satisfaction and professional longevity

  • Increase and maintain a grounded confidence in yourself

More about me:

  • Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW)

  • Clinical Supervisor trained in the AASW Advanced Supervision Program

  • Strong experience in working with risk, complexity, trauma processing using a tri-phasic model, assessment, formulation, treatment planning, and medium to long-term therapy

  • Special interest in supporting neurodivergent professionals (hello! from a fellow ADHDer)

  • I receive regular supervision myself: individual, peer, and specialist consultation

  • Member of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)

  • Professional Member of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD)

  • Associate Member of the EMDR Association of Australia (EMDRAA)

Clinical Supervision Fee: $210 (GST included) per 60 minute session

THERAPY FOR THERAPISTS

Some things can be worked through in clinical supervision and there are other things that need to be worked through in our own therapy. If you would like to work together but are unsure if it is best to proceed with clinical supervision or therapy, please reach out and we can talk this through. Please note that I cannot provide you with both.

FIELD NOTES

Field Notes is a bi-monthly newsletter for social workers and other helping professionals. It's an alternative or complementary offering to the hallway conversations we have, what we might hear via podcast interviews, what we might see on social media, or the echo chambers we exist in.

The heartbeat of Field Notes is the contributor section. You can take a look at this Google Form for more information and the structured questions, and your contribution is warmly welcomed should you choose to make it. This generous sharing of practice wisdom has a pay-it-forward effect.

I've launched this newsletter for a few reasons:

  • To reflect on, celebrate and come together in solidarity around the "boots on the ground" experiences and practice wisdom of our professions

  • To create a pocket of space for people to slow down and drop into connection and depth with fellow social workers and other helping professionals by reading their stories and reflections

  • To offer an accessible, low-barrier way for insight and practice wisdom to be shared with others, regardless of the stage of your career and without needing to navigate reactivity from others or the to-and-fro interactions you didn't sign up for

Whilst Interbloom is hosting the newsletter, I see it as a community-owned, dynamic project, and I can't wait to see how it unfolds over time.

FREE DOWNLOADS

I am particularly passionate about social workers' unique path into clinical and therapeutic work. It's been incredibly satisfying and exciting to start producing some free content and resources for those who are interested in this area of practice. You will find these on the 'Resources' page. Of note is the first release of The Circles of Translation and Integration: A Model for Practice Framework Development, Defining Therapeutic Orientation, and Reflective Practice in Social Work (Mansfield, 2026). There's much more to come on this model in time.

ONLINE COURSES FOR SOCIAL WORKERS

COMING EARLY 2027

Dust Off, Translate, Integrate: Your Framework for Therapeutic Practice (DOTI)

I'm excited to share that I'm in the process of creating two distinct courses for social workers in clinical or therapeutic roles, or working towards them. These courses value our profession and what makes our career path unique. They zoom in on what it takes to be in the room with clients, with yourself, and with the uncertainty, expectations, and imperfection that come with the work. DOTI will be the first of the two to be released in early 2027. This is not your average CPD. Sign up to my Professionals Newsletter (separate to Field Notes) to be the first to know when they launch and access early-bird pricing when they do.
